What
is UAO
A collective association
of national African community organizations and professional groups
unified for the express purpose of building an economically, socially,
and politically vibrant African community in Chicago and Illinois.
What
are UAO's Objectives?
As defined by UAO
Constitution, summaries of UAO's objectives are as follows:
1. To identify ways
and of providing charitable assistance to needy members of the African
community and to provide such assistance.
2. To dispel stereotypes
and promote a positive image of Africans through various educational
seminars, workshops, conferences, and publications
3. To address issues
of discrimination, employment, social services and economic development
relative to the African community of Illinois
4. To promote a
constructive image of the African community and African professional
associations.
5. To inculcate
a deep interest in education and pursuit of scientific knowledge among
African children and youth as well as to enrich their awareness of their
origin, history, and culture

association, Tanzanian Community of Midwest, United Kenyans of Chicago,
Mali association, Africa International House, United Stars Soccer Association,

Somalian Community of Illinois, Ethiopian Community Organization.
Who
should become a UAO member?
If you are a leader of an African community association, a leader of
an African professional group, an African business owner, or just a
member of the African community at large and you are interested in building
an economically, socially, and politically vibrant African community,
then you should join UAO. We will address issues concerning immigration
and resettlement, housing, employment for the community, healthcare,
and more. This is an organization of Africans working to build and empower
the African community.
